What fees should I expect when trading Forex?

Published

on

Basically, it can be said that forex trading has lower fees than regular stock exchange trading. Therefore, this type of trading is much cheaper.

The amount of fees basically depends on the amount of capital invested. On average, the broker itself has to pay a fee of about 0.0006 percent to the contracted service provider. If you convert this value into euros, this is only 60 cents. A calculation example should clarify this a little more precisely.

Assuming a trader would bet an amount of 10,000 euros and receive the same profit as the broker, i.e. about 500 euros, the fees would amount to only 0.5 percent. Of course, this calculation example misses the reality, because usually the profit of the broker is higher than that of the trader. So if the trader wins a sum of 1,000 euros, and if you include the broker’s profit, you only have to pay fees of 0.8 percent.

If a leverage is used, the fee to be paid also changes. However, the costs are not too high here either. With the same calculation example with a lever of 1 percent, only 1 percent fee must be paid on the 10,000 euros. The fees vary from broker to broker, but they are similar for all providers.

Risk Warning

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 74-89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Trading with financial products (CFDs, Forex, Stocks, Cryptocurrencies, etc.) in general and with leveraged products especially is highly speculative and not suitable for all investors! The loss of your entire investment is possible. Never invest money you can`t risk losing! Decentralized and not regulated cryptocurrency markets are also a high risk and may lead to a significant loss.
